Aspirations Day at Broad Oak Primary School
New Directions Education in Manchester were delighted to take part in an Aspirations Event held at Broad Oak Primary school. The event held on Wednesday 19th June 2013 was an opportunity for primary school children to find out more about different careers.
Amanda Stothard, Senior Account Manager and Stuart Ash Business Development officer from New Directions Education were part of a group of volunteers that were invited to speak to the children about their jobs. Each volunteer was given their own stand where they spoke to the children about their own careers. The children were able to ask any questions of the volunteers.
Amanda Stothard Senior Account Manager commented “It was a very enjoyable experience. The children were very inquisitive and it was extremely interesting hearing what the children aspired to be when they get older. It was lovely to see children so young so enthusiastic about what they wanted to do with their career. I would definitely be really keen on doing this event again and highly recommend it to anyone in the community to get involved as it was truly inspirational”
Stuart Ash Business Development Officer added “It was a real pleasure to see the pupils starting to think about their potential future careers. I was very impressed by their enthusiasm, information gathering skills and remarkably mature approach to the tasks they had to carry out during their time with the visitors such as ourselves. I was only slightly worried that one child thought we might be OFSTED inspectors! I am certain the youngsters will benefit enormously from the Aspirations afternoon and it will inspire them to aim high in their school work and in life”
