New Directions Education Sponsor Bike Ride
New Directions is delighted to sponsor Mr Adrian Cresswell from Newman College for the second year running. For the last three years, Adrian and his son-in-law Mike (pillion), have taken part in the same event of riding 1000 miles in under 24 hours for the Poppy appeal.
This year is different, they will be doing it again, only Mike will be riding his own bike and Adrian will have his wife Andrea on his bike. This means that this will be a first for the both of them. They will be starting at Squires Cafe, in Sheburn in Helmet, riding up to Wick in Scotland via Fort William then back to Squires via Berwick, a total of 1018 miles.
Last year Adrian and Mike raised £2075 for the Poppy Appeal, Their best year yet. Adrian hopes they can better it this year. The Royal British Legion is a UK charity that provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants. They are active members of the Royal British legion Riders Branch, details of the branch can be found here http://www.rblr.co.uk/content/
Adrian enjoys riding his bike and this is a good way of combining both riding and raising money for what is a very good cause. Check out this video to see what monies raised through the Poppy appeal are used for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m03cOq1GO0&feature=player_embedded
