Gladstone Primary Go Green
Staff and PTA at Gladstone Primary in Barry joined forces recently to help create a beautiful Friendship Garden for children to enjoy. The team were able to achieve a lot in such a short space of time thanks to the support of PTA and members of the local community.
The school are also preparing to achieve their Platinum Eco Schools award, the school has a passionate Eco committee who have worked hard to renew their Fair-trade status and have also celebrated receiving their third Eco Flag. The award shows the continued commitment to sustaining and enhancing the Gladstone school environment. Their outside area benefits from an impressive greenhouse built out of plastic bottles and the school led by a committed Eco – committee made up of staff and children continues to recycle and strongly promotes saving energy.
Rhian Vernall Senior Account Manager at New Directions Education recognises the efforts staff and pupils have made and comments, “it is always a pleasure to visit the school and you cannot help but notice the hard work and efforts made by everyone. The friendship garden epitomises the positive ethos towards the environment throughout Gladstone and the community”.
