North Wales Crusaders teach Rugby lesson at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd
As part of the build up to the High Achievers Awards 2014, North Wales Crusaders visited schools across Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham.
As well as talking to the students about the merits of working hard to achieve your dreams, members of the team also provided rugby training to schools across the area. One of the lucky schools who received rugby training was Ysgol Maes Hyfryd in Flint.
Centre Christiaan Roets and Adam Daniels who is a Coach for the Community Foundation, as well Head of Strength and Conditioning for the North Wales Crusaders first team, were joined by Matt Davies and Robert Ratcliffe of New Directions Education to run the training session, the training included learning about strategies and movement within a game of Rugby.
Pupils enjoyed working as a team learning how pass the ball, how to perform a rollback, and how to perform a tag tackle. The children were extremely excited about having the opportunity to receive training from the North Wales Crusaders and the school were delighted to be involved.
Robert Ratcliffe, Business Development Manager at New directions Education commented ” we had a very enjoyable day at the school, and the excitement on the children’s faces was wonderful to see. As well as learning about rugby strategies the children were also learning to work as a team which is very important. We are grateful to Adam and Christiaan for taking the time to come and run the session.”
