New Directions Sponsor Halton Infant Music Festival
For the third year in a row New Directions proudly sponsored the Halton Infant Music Festival. Janet Whittingham –Performing Arts Manager of Palace Fields Academy is the coordinator of the Music Festivals. This year the festival has 39 primary schools and 1700 children taking part across Halton borough council.
The theme for this year’s festival was animals, each school had the opportunity to create their own animal costumes and have been practicing the songs to perform on the day. A great effort was made by all the children who turned up in their fancy dress or specially designed animal themed hats to get into the spirit. The festivals took place on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 in The Heath School in Runcorn and Thursday 25th May 2017 in Wade Deacon High School in Widnes.
These festivals have been created to bring the Key Stage 1 children of Halton together to have fun and learn. As well as the children performing their songs, each high school had representatives performing. The Heath has year 9 student Matt singing and performing on the piano his version of John Legends ‘All of me’. Emily a Y10 student from Wade Deacon performed a Disney classic ‘Can you feel the love’ from the Lion King.
At the end of each event Mark from the Wirral office presented certificates to all those who those part. Sam Pilling, Branch Manager for the New Directions Wirral team commented “New Directions are proud to be sponsoring this festival as it is both educational and fun for the children. The festival has had a great impact in the Halton school community. We are excited to be involved for a third year and will look to continue working with Janet to ensure this festival continues”.
