Heolddu Comprehensive Kitted out for Competition
A Caerphilly comprehensive school has been kitted out in a brand-new rugby strip for an upcoming tour they will make across the border in southern England.
Heolddu Comprehensive School in Bargoed will make the trip in the coming weeks in a kit donated by leading recruiter New Directions Education. Emma Williams and Laura Jeffreys, Senior Account Managers for the organisation went along to the school to present the kit,
Emma said of the donation:
‘Sport and the ability to reach out to new audiences is so important for students. Heolddu are a long-time partner of our team and we wanted to support the school in whatever capacity we could. When Mr Davies approached us for sponsorship for the tour, we knew we could deliver something outstanding. We have a relationship with leading kit supplier Macron, and they certainly stepped up to the challenge of creating a new rugby strip that would ensure the talented team looked the part on the pitch’.
Two teams from the school will make the trip where they will visit Latymer Grammar in Hammersmith and Fulham Grammar. The pupils will then visit Twickenham to watch Harlequins versus Worcester Warriors in professional action.
Speaking about the donation Grant Davies, Assistant Head and the team captain (pictured) commented ‘the kit is amazing, thank you so much – the quality is fantastic and we were in dire need of a new strip. Thank you to all at New Directions for the generous donation’.
The trip has been funded by kind donations from local businesses and the wider school community including parents of the pupils.
Howard Burge, National Director for award-winning New Directions commented ‘we would just like to wish the travelling teams the very best for their trip. The school works hard to promote their core values to their students, encouraging a ‘community of growth’ – this adventure will be one that stays with these young people for a long time – pob lwc Heolddu’.
