Winner Announced: Christmas Card Design Competition 2017
This year New Directions have had their youngest ever winner in their annual national Christmas card design competition.
Oliver Thomas, who is just three years old from Ysgol Greenfield School in Merthyr, was announced as winner of this year’s competition at a school assembly last week. Greenfield is a specialist school in Merthyr and provides provision for a wide range of pupils with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, specific learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The competition has been running for over a decade with more schools getting involved each year. This year the business received over 1,000 entries. Oliver won £500 for the school which will be used to resource a project in February based around ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar, with a theme of ‘patterns’.
New Directions Account Manager, Rebecca Murphy, Branch Manager for our ALN team in Cardiff, Jon Evans and Head of Marketing and Communications, Ruth Dalton attended an assembly at the school and presented the £500 cheque to the school. The assembly acknowledged the ‘stars of the week’ and the deputy head led a chorus of the school’s welcome song for visitors. Unfortunately Oliver was off sick so his class teacher accepted the cheque on his behalf.
The Christmas card was professionally printed and has been delivered to over 1,000 schools and businesses across England and Wales.
