Top Tips to Deliver Wellbeing and Mindfulness Sessions for KS2 pupils

A learner’s well-being is impacted in school by their environment and the teachers and other school staff that they come into contact with. Effective learning can only take place in a safe environment when children are in an emotional state that facilitates their receptivity to learning. Article 29, in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that ‘a child or young person’s education should help their mind, body and talents be the best they can.’ (Framework on embedding a whole-school approach to emotional and mental well-being Guidance document no: 269/2021 Date of issue: March 2021).

Statistics show that around 1 in 10 children between the ages of 5-16 have a mental health problem and that around 50 per cent of people with enduring mental health problems will have symptoms by the time they are 14, and many at a much younger age.  (Together for Mental Health A Strategy for Mental Health and Wellbeing in Wales)
