SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD and ASD
Kirkby.
Full-Time
£425 – £475 Weekly Pay (PAYE – No Umbrella Company)

New Directions Education are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism (ASD) and PMLD at a Good-rated SEND school in Kirkby. This role is focused on creating a positive, supportive, and nurturing environment where students can thrive both academically and personally. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring student’s individual needs are met, helping them overcome challenges and working towards greater independence.

Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:

  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Be encouraging and supportive.
  • Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.

Although the role is based around education support, due to the children’s personal needs and behaviours they require consistent mentoring, motivating and advising, as well as some counselling, so their well-being can remain stable meaning they can achieve much more in their education and work towards an more independent future.

Behaviours displayed by the children can be challenging so applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, as well maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding behaviours stems from other problems. candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
