Attendance Support Mentor Salford Full-Time, Temp to Perm ASAP £450-500 Weekly Pay (PAYE – No Umbrella Company)

New Directions is working with a SEMH School in Salford that is looking for an Attendance Support Mentor. The ideal Attendance Support Mentor will have experience of working with hard to reach students, secondary in age, inside and outside of the classroom.
The Attendance Support Mentor role is hybrid in nature as their is a requirement to support in the classroom, helping with teaching and learning – as well as outreach work with pupils that struggle with their attendance for a variety of different reasons. The Attendance Support Mentor role is full-time, 8.30-3.30 – and is temp to perm meaning the ideal candidate will start on supply before moving over onto contract after 12 working weeks.
Job Specification:
Supervise and provide learning support for students in small groups and on a one to one basis.
Support teaching and learning – at GCSE and Functional Skills level;
Assist with outreach work for learners who struggle with attendance;
Work with senior leaders to improve attendance across the school
Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
Establish trusting relationships with pupils, parents and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.
Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in school life
Person Specification
Have experience working in the care, youth work, coaching or education sector
Have a strong understanding of SEND – specifically SEMH
Experience of de-esculating challenging behaviour
Be outgoing, fun and engaging
Willing to support children of all abilities and needs
Have experience of behaviour management and deescalation
Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning and attendance
