SEMH English Teacher
North Manchester
Full-Time
Immediate Start
£600-£900 Per Week (PAYE – No Umbrella Company)

This well respected SEMH school is based in North Manchester is looking to recruit a SEMH English Teacher to delivered Functional Skills and GCSE English – across KS3-4. This specialist setting caters for secondary aged learners with SEMH & Complex Needs; most students are on the autism spectrum with speech, language and communication needs. Strong Senior Leaders have created a calm, structured learning environment where their students thrive. Small specialist classes are well staffed and resourced throughout the setting.

This role would suit an experienced SEMH teacher with experience of teaching English to GCSE; or a mainstream secondary specialist looking to further their career in the SEMH sector.

As an SEMH English Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Teach KS3-4 English – including KS3, GCSE and Functional Skills
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEMH and Complex Needs
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges.
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  • Maintain discipline.
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupil’s development.
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area.
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.

To apply the candidate must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum
  • Able to provide Referees.
  • An up-to-date DBS Check (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Experience in the Education and Training sector
