Job Description

New Directions are looking for a dedicated, passionate, and empathetic individual to work within a school based in Liverpool to join their team as a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to support children with a variety of special educational needs, including physical, emotional, and behavioural needs.

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive learning environment where all children feel valued, safe, and supported. You will work closely with our teaching staff to deliver tailored educational support to students, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom activities and make progress in their learning.

Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:

• Have excellent communication skills.
• Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
• Be encouraging and supportive.
• Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children development.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.

Although the role is based around education support, due to the children’s personal needs and behaviours they require consistent mentoring, motivating and advising, as well as some counselling, so their well-being can remain stable meaning they can achieve much more in their education and work towards an more independent future.

Behaviours displayed by the children can be challenging so applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, as well maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding behaviours stems from other problems. candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

• Have experience working with children, or adults, with additional needs
• Able to support children of all abilities.
• Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning.
