Beaver Primary Serve up a World Book Day Menu

Lauren Cassidy, Recruitment Consultant for New Directions Education Manchester recently discovered the extent of one school’s creativity when it came to celebrating World Book Day 2015. Beaver Primary School in Oldham came up with a unique idea to ensure that staff and students alike got to celebrate all things books.

The school created a literary focused lunch time menu to ensure every book worm in the school had their taste buds set alight. By combining the World Book Day theme and their canteen creations, Beaver served up a menu to entice even those students who normally bring in a packed lunch. From Jacks’s magic beans to Gingerbread men and Combustion Coleslaw to Kryptonite Jelly, the menu had something for every reader in the school.

Speaking about the ingenious way of engaging students Lauren said ‘this idea really made me smile, what a wonderful way to ensure that the whole school got involved with World Book Day. The clever play on words really made the children think about their lunchtime food differently’.

The entire school including the staff got involved, dressing up in their favourite characters from books that have captivated the imagination. Kirsty White from Beaver Primary said ‘everyone has joined in, word is that some of the children have made that much of an effort with fancy dress, their unrecognisable’.
