A Nursery Manager is responsible for the provision of high quality, flexible childcare for children generally under the school age. They oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring that the safeguarding of every child within their care is of the highest importance.
As a Nursery Manager you’ll be expected to:
- Deliver a care service in line with the organisations values
- Lead the staff of the nursery in providing a programme of activity aligned with the development of the young people in their care
- Ensure that all nursery policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- Deliver a programme of activity that promotes the early years foundation stage
- Work to develop and deliver the nursery business objectives
- Work as the key link in communications with all stakeholders associated with the nursery
- Ensure the nursery adheres to all current legislation
- Ensure that all staff employed within the nursery are trained to appropriate standards
- Maintain accurate records – attendance, absence, enrolment etc.
The Nursery Manager is usually also responsible for the supervision or management of staff including:
- Deputy manager
- Senior supervisor
- Room supervisor
- Nursery nurses
- Nursery assistants
- Apprentices
- Nursery cook
- Nursery cleaner.
