New Directions Education are recruiting for School Caretakers, to cover temporary positions
in Primary & Secondary Schools across Cardiff. The roles available are long and short-term temporary,
covering internal staff absences such as sickness or maternity.
The working hours can vary depending on each schools’ specific requirements. Primary
school caretakers will usually be required to work split-shifts, such as 7am – 11am and 3pm
– 6pm, secondary school caretakers are usually required to work a full day, such as 8am –
4pm or 10am – 6pm.
School caretakers are also often required to work during school holidays. School caretakers
are responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance and security of the grounds and
premises. Previous experience in maintenance, trades work, health and safety or
construction work is essential.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
