Learning Support Assistant, Bridgend

Job Description

We are currently seeking Teaching Assistants to work in Primary schools in the Bridgend area.

You will be supporting the primary age range across various classes. The successful candidate will need to implement creative learning techniques to engage with pupils who mainly need support with literacy and numeracy. However, it will be required for you to support pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

An important part of this role is to build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupils, who could potentially have low self-esteem and behaviour needs. The successful candidate will need to have a calm demeanour and be committed, as well as encouraging.

Previous experience of working with pupils with behaviour difficulties, on a one-to-one basis and a group basis will be beneficial for this job role.

You will have:

• A proactive attitude
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Capability to monitor behavioural needs and support pupils with low self-esteem
• A calm demeanour and encouraging nature
• Commitment

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A Child and Adult DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
