Job Description

New Directions is working with a dynamic and inclusive Secondary School located in the heart of Nantwich. We are now looking for a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Buddy to join our team and support students with additional learning needs.

Role Overview:

As a Learning Support Buddy, you will work closely with students who require additional help in their learning, providing one-to-one and small group support. Your role will involve assisting students in overcoming barriers to learning, helping to build their confidence and motivation, and supporting them in achieving their personal and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with learning needs in various subjects.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver appropriate interventions and strategies.
  • Encourage and support students in developing their self-esteem, independence, and social skills.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and activities.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers and parents where necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

About You:

We are looking for a compassionate and patient individual who has a passion for helping others succeed. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a learning support or similar role, though training can be provided.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • An understanding of different learning needs and the ability to adapt your approach accordingly.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
  • A commitment to supporting the values of inclusion, equality, and diversity.

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;

  • NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
  • NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
  • CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
  • BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).

We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
