Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistants to join our team on a supply basis. Working across various ALN (Additional Learning Needs) schools and educational settings, you will play an essential role in providing tailored support to students with a wide range of learning needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. This flexible, rewarding role allows you to gain diverse experience while making a real difference in the lives of students.

Role Overview: As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will provide short-term support in different ALN schools and settings. You will work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis, supporting them in their learning, social development, and emotional growth. Your role will vary depending on the setting, but your core responsibility will be to assist in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of students with additional learning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with a range of learning needs across different settings
  • Assist in the implementation of individual learning plans (IEPs) for students
  • Support students with tasks, class activities, and independent learning
  • Promote inclusion by encouraging participation and positive behavior
  • Help manage classroom environments and assist teachers with day-to-day tasks
  • Support the development of students’ social and emotional skills
  • Liaise with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress
  • Be flexible and responsive to the varying needs of different educational settings

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), is highly desirable
  • A passion for supporting children with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and respond to the specific needs of students
  • Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work across various settings
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) is preferred, but not essential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to apply for one)
