Job Description

We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and adaptable Teaching Assistants to join our team on a supply basis, providing support across various secondary schools in Conwy. As a supply Teaching Assistant, you’ll be making a meaningful contribution to the educational experience of secondary school students by helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in their learning environment.

Role Overview:
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering lessons, helping students with their learning, and providing one-to-one or small group assistance in various subjects across secondary schools. You will work with students who may require additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN). This is a flexible role with opportunities to work in different schools, offering valuable experience in diverse educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support to teachers and assist students with their learning
  • Support students in their academic work, both individually and in small groups
  • Assist with classroom management and promote a positive learning environment
  • Help students with special educational needs (SEN) and ensure they are fully included in lessons
  • Offer guidance on tasks and activities, ensuring students remain engaged and focused
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Liaise with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress
  • Be flexible and respond to the varying needs of different secondary school settings

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting
  • A passion for supporting secondary school students in their learning and development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and respond to the needs of students
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to apply for one)
