New Directions are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic school based in Liverpool starting after the easter holidays until end of academic year. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support students’ learning and development, both in and outside of the classroom. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and helping students achieve their full potential. This role is based in a mainstream secondary school supporting SEND pupils.

Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:

  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students with varying needs.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Be encouraging and supportive
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the students
  • Support students with a range of SEND needs (including autism, dyslexia, ADHD and emotional needs) in their lessons, ensuring they have equal access to learning opportunities.

Job Specification

  • Have experience working with children, or adults, with additional needs
  • Able to support children of all abilities.
  • Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning.
  • Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.
  • Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safegaurding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.
