SEN Teaching Assistant – Level 1 Salford Full-Time ASAP £425-450 Weekly Pay (PAYE – No Umbrella Company)
Do you have experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs and disabilities? Have you previously worked as a specialist support worker or teaching assistant? Do you strive to make a difference to the lives of young people in your care? If so, the following role could be for you.
New Directions is proud to be working with a SEND School in Salford that is looking to recruit a SEND teaching assistant on a longer-term, full-time basis. The ideal teaching assistant will have experience of working with learners with additional needs such as autism and PMLD. Experience of personal care and challenging behaviour is essential also.
Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:
Have excellent communication skills.
Be able to build strong relationships with students with varying needs and staff.
Be encouraging and supportive.
Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children’s development – especially with young children with additional needs.
Assist with teaching and learning;
Help learners regulate their emotions
Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
Personal care
Job Specification:
Supervise and provide learning support for children in small groups and on a one to one basis
Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.
Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in activities.
Person Specification
A solid understanding of SEND – specifically autism and PMLD;
Experience of working with children with additional needs
Be outgoing, fun and engaging
Willing to support children of all abilities and needs
Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
