Teaching Assistant – Secondary, Cardiff

Job Description

New Directions are seeking learning support assistants to work in our secondary schools in Cardiff.

As a learning support assistant, your role will be to support students in their lessons. You may be required to support children who face emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are looking for those who are compassionate and caring who can adapt learning approaches to individuals. You will be working closely with teachers and other members of staff so communication skills are vital in this role. You will need confident in working with small groups of children and on a 1:1 basis to assist with any work that has been set.

The role will allow you to be flexible so that you can be offered a work life balance as well as the opportunity to secure long term roles or day to day cover.

We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of 3 months experience working with children or have a child based qualification.

You will need:

• A minimum of 3 months child-based experience
• Contactable references
• A DBS – or be willing to undertake one via New Directions
• A willingness to complete mandatory training when required
